I recommend draining the float bowls of any residual gas at this time. On each float bowl there is a screw head. Loosening this screw opens up a valve that allows the fuel to flow out. Place another piece of tape on the throttle grip and draw a line (while the throttle is at idle) straight across from one piece of tape to the other. It's like holding the handle down on the toilet tank, it will run forever as long as the water supply valve is on. If the floats are stuck down, fuel will overflow out of the carb. If the float height is too high, this will cause the fuel to rise to a level above the operational spec.
